Our next day was an easy one, only 390 miles. We passed
windmills, Fort Riley, Kansas City Stadium and the State capital of Topeka .
We arrived in the cowboy town of Hays Kansas .
It is a small town with a hand full of restaurants and beer halls. We stayed at
the Baymount Suits which is nothing like the Hawthorne Suites we stayed in.
More like a small motel room. However it was right next to the Whiskey Creek
bar and grill. The hotel gave a 10% coupon for dinner at the bar. We watched
the playoff games at the bar and had a good steak dinner. Evening temps dropped
into the low teens giving us our first taste of winter. But little if any snow
on the ground.
